"A new healthy-built cohousing community"

Asheville Harmony Village is designed to change the way we live at home by:

Providing an environmentally sensitive
home in a Cottage Community design
at a reasonable price that meets the needs of socially conscious residents, whether they are retiring into their second career, a first time homebuyer, or a single parent with children.

MISSION

Mission: We are an eclectic group of like-minded individuals who seek to live together simply and sustainably in community and thereby tread lightly on Mother Earth.

Who We Are: We are open to all who share our values regardless of age, gender, race,
ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical challenges and political orientation.   We welcome and celebrate
diversity among our community.

CORE VALUES

We hold the following core values as guideposts for our life together:

We join in a collaborative lifestyle respecting all individuals and living things. We seek to govern ourselves by consensus decision-making to the greatest extent possible with an aim toward resolving conflicts peacefully.

We endeavor to promote creative expression by all members. We attempt to bring humor and laughter into our lives at every opportunity. We aim for a “Joie de Vivre” in all our endeavors.

We aspire to foster a more just and peaceful world. We want to reach out to our neighbors, the larger Asheville community, Western North Carolina, our country and the whole planet.  Toward this end, socially-relevant group projects may be designed from time to time to actively express this core value, as suggested by community members.

Honoring Spirituality is an essential value at Harmony Village. Thus members are encouraged to follow a spiritual path that resonates with their own experience and yearnings.  Acceptance and tolerance of each others’ spiritual journey is expected of all members.

We aim to build affordable green homes & maintain an eco-friendly property. Within the constraints of financial budgeting, we strive to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and other non-renewable materials.

We encourage members to support and care for each other. Our intent is to pursue every potential avenue for care during health and as much as possible in illness.  We will comfort, console, cheer, inspire, nurture and cherish each other to the best of our abilities.  And we believe that everyone has something of value to offer the community at large!
